Be Kind To Animals

When I was growing up, my family always had animals or pets or some kind. We always had a dog or two (or more), and over the years we also had rabbitts, goats, horses, and we even raised chickens for awhile. I was always taught to be kind to animals.

Our pets give more to us humans than we realize. Once an animal knows you, they show unconditional love. They don't care what we look like or what other people think of us, as long as we treat them kindly, they'll always love us.

As an example of some benefits, it has been proven that having pets or animals around can lower a humans blood pressure. If you or someone you know has problems with high blood pressure, try holding a cute little puppy in your lap for awhile and see if it doesn't help.

Dogs don't speak to us in human voices, but once you've had the dog for awhile, they really can understand what you are talking about most of the time. They can tell when you're in a different mood or not feeling well. I've gotten to the point where I actually talk to my dog almost like she's human, and she really understands me! Sure, it's simple things like telling to "I'm getting ready to go to bed" and she knows it's time for her to go retire to her box for the evening.

Let other people know about being kind to animals. Teach your friends, family and anybody else about animal cruelty. These pets and animals have feelings just like we have feelings, they feel pain and they get sad. Not only that, but animal cruelty has connections to human violence. Many people who start off hurting animals will eventually hurt humans also.

You can do all sorts of things to do your part in taking care of animals. Be proactive and do things like start clubs in your area for the purpose of stopping animal cruelty. Watch for stray or injured animals, and if you see one contact your local humane society or animal care and control agency and tell them where you saw the animal and give them a description of what it looks like. Be a good responsible pet owner to your animals, don't let them roam around your neighborhood. It's your responsibility to keep your pets safe from harm.

Most of all, continue to learn and educate yourself about animals. Kindness starts with YOU! Show other people through your own actions.
